Session Title: A Whole New Level of Smart Parks Through Geospatial Technology
Description: "The concept of smart communities is evolving within our cities and metropolitan areas to include park and recreation assets. Fulfilling the promise of smart is serving to reshape how communities manage their park infrastructure and interact with their constituents. How our parks will run in the future and how our citizens will perceive government services depends on our ability to embrace smart. High-performing organizations are using location as the standard analytical approach to achieve new insight and make data-driven decisions. We will explore how smart parks use location technology to:
• Monitor and visualize valuable resources in real time.
• Improve operational efficiency around asset inventory and management.
• Evaluate asset distribution to reflect community needs and demographics for a given park.
• Deliver analysis and science-based support for critical decision making.
• Leverage a geoequity lens to identify where access to parks-related opportunities and investments should be prioritized.
• Pursue holistic and spatially based approaches to natural and cultural resources management
• Facilitate sharing, collaboration and engagement with stakeholders and the public.
• Use a geographic approach for feedback, transparency and communication."
