Derrick Lew is a law enforcement professional with over 21 years of experience in public safety. Currently serving as a Commander within the Field Operations Bureau of the San Francisco Police Department, Derrick has a track record of leading innovative strategies to enhance safety, improve operational efficiencies, and foster strong partnerships. In his current assignment, he oversees two police districts, as well as the Department’s Drug Market Coordination Center, created to address San Francisco’s opioid crisis. With extensive experience in patrol operations, criminal investigations, and narcotics enforcement, Derrick is dedicated to advancing the field through strategic vision and effective leadership. He holds a BA in Economics from Boston University and is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) National Academy.
