As the deputy city manager for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation and chief innovation officer in the city manager’s office, Kate Parmelee leads the development and implementation of City of Port St. Lucie’s strategic plan and advances strategic initiatives across city departments. She oversees the city’s grants and advocacy and performance efforts through cross-departmental teams and facilitates strategic partnerships with educational institutions and nonprofit organizations. Kate serves as the city’s chief innovation officer and oversees the innovation program. Kate has nearly 25 years of experience in local government and nonprofit organizations, specializing in strategic planning, community development, government relations and communications. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in public and nonprofit administration from Grand Valley State University and a Master of Arts degree in mass communications and public relations from the University of Florida. Kate and her husband Andy have one child, Owen (12), and enjoy spending time in the outdoors.
