Charnon Barnes

Charnon Barnes is a proud native of Columbus, Ohio, and a self-proclaimed “Rec Kid.” She started with the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department as an assistant manager and then became the youth sports manager, where she managed seven youth leagues, eight summer camps and special events for the city’s 28 centers. Charnon is now the executive director of the Central Ohio Youth Sports Collaborative (COYSC), where she is working with like-minded organizations to ensure that every child has equitable opportunities to be active through sports, play and outdoor recreation. Charnon is a strong advocate for a teamwork approach and believes bringing youth-serving organizations together will help support youth athletes, their families and the whole community. Charnon holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and a doctorate of physical therapy from Marquette University. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, sports, traveling, trying new foods and having new experiences.
