Kelly McChesney
She/Her/Hers
Public Art Director | City of Raleigh
Raleigh NC
With 25 years immersed in the arts, Kelly has developed a reputation as an advocate for artists and their creative visions. After a decade spent running Flanders Gallery in Raleigh, she took the reins at the unapologetic artist-run space LUMP, solidifying her commitment to nurturing artistic expression in unconventional spaces. Over the last seven years, Kelly has served as the public art director for the City of Raleigh and collaborates in shaping the city's cultural landscape through dynamic public art initiatives, including the SEEK Raleigh experimental public art series, Artist-In-Residence programs and community-driven projects like the Voices of Oberlin oral history initiative. Passionate about the transformative power of art, community and innovation, Kelly thrives on the magic that ensues when these elements collide. Honors include an Indy Art Award for her support of artists and the Downtown Raleigh Alliance’s Downtown Advocate Award.
