Talent Engagement and Development Supervisor | Portland Parks and Recreation
Portland OR
Riley Clark-Long is passionate about growing the next generation of park and recreation professionals. He studied environmental studies (B.A.) at Connecticut College and community and regional planning (M.A.) at the University of Oregon. As a young adult, he worked in a variety of parks and recreation jobs — outdoor/nature educator, summer camp counselor, lifeguard and land steward. After finishing his master’s degree, he was placed with Portland Parks and Recreation (PP&R) by the Portland State University Hatfield Fellowship Program. After his fellowship ended, Clark-Long worked as the PP&R Workforce Development Analyst, collaborating with bureau leadership to coordinate a large expansion of the workforce funded by the 2020 Portland Parks Local Option Levy. In 2023, he became PP&R and the City of Portland’s very first talent engagement and development supervisor. His team supports outreach, recruitment and marketing for careers with PP&R. They also support current employees in professional development.
