Angela Summers, director of parks and recreation for the City of Henderson, joined the team in April 2008. During her career, she has worked for recreation facilities in California, Hawaii, Japan and, most recently, Nevada. Summers provides new perspectives and fresh ideas that promote growth and development within the park and recreation industry, with expertise in the areas of leadership, communication, management and customer service. Summers helps lead a $50M park and recreation operation, which includes 73 parks, more than 200 miles of trails, six recreation centers and two senior centers, and 228 full-time staff and 800 to 1,000 part-time staff. As a speaker, leader and mentor, Summers’ goal is to educate recreation professionals on the key elements needed to motivate, spark creativity, and create positive working environments that promote leadership and produce future leaders. Her enthusiasm and passion for recreation and teaching make her education sessions informative, inspirational and engaging!
