Katrina Amaro started her career in August 2016 with Gwinnett (Georgia) Animal Welfare and Enforcement as a kennel officer ACOI. In August 2017 Katrina was promoted to an ACOII field officer. In March 2020, Katrina was promoted to the cruelty and neglect investigator, where she investigated close to 2,000 cruelty/neglect cases, ranging from ordinance violations to felony cases. Katrina's experience extended to leading investigations in fatal animal attacks as well. Katrina was appointed special operations manager in January 2023. In this role, she oversaw cruelty/neglect, bites/rabies investigations, court/probation cases and rescue. Katrina's vast knowledge has enabled her to be a guest speaker at the Animal Protection and Law Conference, Southeastern Animal Control Association Conference, UGA and Gwinnett Technical Vet and Vet Tech Students, and many public outreach events. Katrina has been a Southeastern Animal Control Association board member since September 2023. Katrina was appointed as the division director in January 2024.
