Dr. Megan Owens is an Associate Professor in the Department of Recreation, Park, Tourism, and Hospitality at Western Illinois University. She has been working in and around the parks, recreation, and camping industries for over 20 years. Megan held supervisory roles with both park districts and park departments in Illinois and Indiana overseeing youth and family programs, and everything in between, such as managing a dog park and a ninety-year old building used for community programming. Megan’s experience extends to 4-H where she led evaluation and research efforts at the University of Maryland. She received her doctoral degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism. Today, she has the opportunity to work with her favorite population, college students, and further support practitioners through consulting, research, and academic projects.
