Eric López has been in the Parks & Recreation field for 16 years, including last 8+ in different roles with the City of Fort Worth. Eric currently serves as District Superintendent with the Park & Recreation Department, where he oversees 5 Community Centers and a city-wide literacy program. He has also served as a Community Center Coordinator & Interim District Superintendent, & Community Action Partners Online Unit Coordinator with the Neighborhood Services Department as well as a Community Center Supervisor with Park & Recreation Department. His main accomplishments include championing the renovation and expansion of the largest Community Center in Fort Worth as part of a 5.4-million-dollar capital project, reinvigorating the largest senior citizens program in Fort Worth, leading the transformation of the Community Action Partners social services program from in-person to online and successfully leading the city-wide summer day camp hiring and budget committees during multiple years. Prior to that he worked 7 years as the Programs Director for the Salvation Army on his native Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, where he led their afterschool program, summer day camp and launched their first licensed pre-school facility.
Eric holds a master’s degree in Kinesiology and a bachelor’s degree in physical education, both from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez, PR. He is a Certified Parks and Recreational Executive (CPRE) through NRPA, a CPR/First Aid/ AED certified instructor. He is a founding member and Vice-Chair of the Hispanic Professionals in Park & Recreation networking group. Outside of work, you will find him mostly at the DFW baseball/softball parks on games and practices with his children. He also likes to spend time with family, workout, travel, go to the beach, practicing/watching sports and reading.
