Jason Jones has 20 years of Parks and Recreation experience and currently serves as an Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Durham. Since 2014, Jason has been dedicated to working with colleagues at Duke University to researching and understanding ways for Parks and Recreation to be a solution for improving the health of our communities.

His work in various municipalities in Michigan and North Carolina has allowed him to understand the impact Parks and Recreation can have physically and economically on communities, but more importantly the impact it has on the health and well-being of residents. Being a member of the North Carolina Recreation and Park Association, MParks, NRPA, and a leader in F3 Churham, Jason has developed an understanding of, and excitement for leadership, community capacity building, and working with boards.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography, Earth Science, and Social Science, and a Master of Arts Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration from Central Michigan University. He is a Certified Parks and Recreation Executive as well as a Certified Pool Operator. He and his wife Liz are sports parents of Scarlett and Henry.
