Shweta is a landscape architect with over 15 years of combined experience in academia, public and private sectors. As a landscape architect and a project manager at McAdams, she leads civic spaces projects. With degrees in architecture from India and landscape architecture from NC State, Shweta particularly focuses on designing environments that spark intergenerational interactions. She enjoys exploring opportunities to create a sense of place through a participatory design process, finding evidence-based solutions to complex issues, and bringing empathy into the design process to ensure the built environment is inclusive and welcoming for all. As a parks and recreation projects team leader, she is passionate about helping communities achieve multi-layered health and wellness benefits through parks and open spaces. Certified as a LEED Accredited Professional, environmental sustainability is at the core of her design work with a dedicated focus on socially and environmentally resilient spaces. Her extensive experience working at the Natural Learning Initiative, a research extension program at NC State University focused on children’s environments and connection to the natural world sparked her interest in the concept of biophilia and its most recent relevance to parks projects as we continue to evolve from the aftermath of COVID crisis. Shweta is a long-time North Carolina resident, and in her time away from work, she enjoys walks on greenways, visiting new places, and spending time with family and friends.
