Gilberto Salinas is a Recreation Specialist and program manager at Air Force Services Center Headquarters, Join Base San Antonio -Lackland AFB. Primary duties include providing oversight and administration of the Air Force Outdoor Recreation program specifically with central program planning and development, training and customer engagement and outreach.
Mr. Salinas entered the Air Force as an enlisted member in May 2003.He completed Services Technical School in July 2013, and since then has served in a variety of Services combat support positions to include Food Services, Mortuary Affairs, Readiness, and Fitness and Sports. In 2005, Mr. Salinas acquired a special experience identifier as an Air Force Exercise Specialist within Fitness and Sports. Mr. Salinas took part in multiple deployments during his enlisted career in support of OIF/OEF as a Services Airman and was an integral part of resiliency efforts and uplifting morale by providing direct mission support via outstanding fitness programming and operational services,
As a fitness center program and special Events manager, Mr. Salinas’s outstanding management capabilities were instrumental in maintaining 1.2 million dollars in fitness equipment supporting more than 8,000 patrons weekly in a deployed environment, His resourcefulness, coordination, and applied safety and risk management capabilities facilitated base wide fitness events to include group exercise classes, guided personal training instruction, Wing Fitness Day, and numerous special events.
After separating in 2010, Mr. Salinas was employed in the private sector and continued providing fitness operation oversight for corporate health and wellness clients within south Texas as well as provided ergonomic consulting within the industrial community as an injury prevention specialist before returning to the Air Force as a civilian employee.
