Eric Legg is an associate professor in the School of Community Resources and Development at Arizona State University. His research explores the question of how we construct community sport experiences to maximum positive outcomes. Within that broad framework, his work looks at the roles and influences of coaches, parents, participants, volunteers, and management structures. Eric is a strong advocate for community applied research and seeks to work directly with parks and recreation and community sports providers to create sports experiences. His research has addressed topics such as sense of community, sport parent behavior, coaching behaviors and education, transformational leadership, grit, empathy, growth mindset, and collaboration between non-profit and government agencies in the delivery of youth sport programs. Eric’s teaching and research is informed by his previous work experience in municipal parks and recreation, as well as his volunteer experience with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and the founding of his own non-profit organization (Tennis on the Hill). He is also currently the national council chair for the Associate Wide Council of the United States Tennis Association
