Marty Merriweather is a director with the City of Memphis Parks Division. Prior to joining the city of Memphis, as a former educator, Mr. Merriweather taught middle school, worked as a counselor, coach and athletic director. During his tenure as a classroom teacher, he used “hard-work” and “dedication” as a recipe for student success. With a heart for inner city children and his community, he currently serves as the Director of Riverview Community Center.

Marty Merriweather earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from Austin Peay State University. Thereafter, Mr. Merriweather continued his professional learning by completing a Master’s of Science degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Freed Hardeman University. His interest includes motivational speaking and educational reform. Finally, he is passionate about bringing meaningful programs to the citizens of Memphis.
