Wanda Ramos has worked for The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Department of Parks and Recreation for 32+ years. Over 3 decades to the Commission and the residents of Prince George’s County. She moved up through various positions within the Commission, starting as Recreation Specialist II in the Northern Area Office, followed by Recreation Center Supervisor II at Takoma Langley, Good Luck and Langley Park Community Centers and then to Community Supervisor, Region IV, Prince George’s Plaza Community Center. She later advanced to become the Superintendent of Central Area Operations, and later still, became Division Chief of Central Area Operations. Most recently, Wanda ably served in the role of Acting Deputy Director of Area Operations, mostly during a time of unprecedented challenges brought on by a global pandemic.
Wanda was selected by The Prince George’s County Planning Board as the Deputy Director of Recreation and Leisure Services with the Prince George’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
As the Deputy Director, she leads and administers a comprehensive recreation and leisure services, serving diverse population and facilities. Programs for youth, seniors and Therapeutic Recreation and Leisure services. Facilities include 45 community centers, aquatics and athletics facilities, youth sports, and health and wellness. Wanda also serves as the M-NCPPC representative on external committees and community projects, including assisting our Judiciary with initiatives benefitting our Prince George’s County Community. She is a member of the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA, Awards Committee) and the Maryland Recreation and Parks Association (MRPA). She has also served as the point person/liaison with the County Health Department and Office of Emergency Management regarding coordinating use of DPR facilities for COVID-19 testing and vaccinations during the challenging pandemic timeframe.
A longtime community advocate, and has regularly stepped up to ably represent M-NCPPC & DPR on several external committees serving Prince George’s County residents, has volunteered with United Communities Against Poverty (UCAP), Community Legal Services of Prince George’s County, and Leadership Prince George’s.
