Jay Tryon is the Superintendent of Community Recreation for Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation in North Carolina. He is responsible for the overall management of all the county’s traditional recreation centers, senior centers as well as Sports and Fitness programming. He previously served as the Director of Parks & Recreation for the Town of Indian Trail. While in Indian Trail he helped build a department known for providing top notch programming and facilities that lead the way with innovative amenities in the region. Prior to this position he spent 7 ½ years with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation. Jay is a member of NCRPA and NRPA, is a member of the Conference Program Committee and is a past chair of the Young Professional Network. He currently serves as a member of the CAPRA Commission. In 2015 he was awarded one of NRPAs Young Professional fellowships. He currently attends a variety of state conferences as a presenter and always enjoys the ability to present at the National Conference. He is a graduate of SUNY Brockport with a major in Recreation & Leisure Studies and a concentration in Recreation Management.
