Description:
Intentional community engagement is essential for diverse and inclusive park and recreation programs, and the messaging and methods of promotion to community stakeholders is key for determining who has access and who can experience belonging in your programs. In this session, we will hear successes, challenges and lessons learned from park and recreation professionals who have effectively grown the diversity of partners, vendors and customers at their farmers markets. There will be opportunity for attendees to ask questions, share their own challenges and successes, and apply effective promotion practices to their own park and recreation programs. Anyone who wants to increase the reach and impact of their park and recreation programs is encouraged to attend.
Learning Objectives:
1. Attendees will explore successful models for marketing and promoting park and recreation programs.
2. Attendees will learn to address common challenges for increasing engagement and strategies for improving community, vendor, and partner engagement.
3. Attendees will discuss how messaging can be used to advance equity in park and recreation programs and farmers markets

One-hour education sessions (0.1 CEU) will be delivered as either Talks, Sandboxes, or Clinics.
Clinics and Sandboxes will be smaller sessions and on a first-come, first-serve basis, so make sure to arrive early!
- Talks will be delivered as lectures or panel sessions.
- Clinics will focus on applying concepts to real-life examples through workshop activities.
- Sandboxes are a great networking opportunity that invite participants to talk shop, compare notes and swap advice around hot topics in the field.
Twenty of the one-hour education sessions will be available on-demand through the conference app while also delivered in person.
