Description:
Join Houston Parks Board to learn how they use mobile augmented reality (AR) to engage audiences with their educational programming and park space activation. This presentation will share their ongoing strategies for growing their audience, their role in the community, and their success in using AR technology to improve diversity, equity and inclusion. The Houston Parks Board will be joined by Mary Clark, CEO of Agents of Discovery, who will describe how AR learning tools impact the neural activity of digital natives and lead to better learning outcomes.
Participants in the session will be invited to play an at-home mission to get a feel for how these programs work and can be used to provide engaging learning experiences.
Learning Objectives:
1. Attendees will learn how mobile AR programming is being used at various parks and public sites, including for special events.
2. Attendees will learn to determine how AR can be adapted in their organizations, no matter the population, location or other characteristics.
3. Attendees will learn how mobile AR can improve diversity, equity and inclusion in educational programming and park activation.

One-hour education sessions (0.1 CEU) will be delivered as either Talks, Sandboxes, or Clinics.
Clinics and Sandboxes will be smaller sessions and on a first-come, first-serve basis, so make sure to arrive early!
- Talks will be delivered as lectures or panel sessions.
- Clinics will focus on applying concepts to real-life examples through workshop activities.
- Sandboxes are a great networking opportunity that invite participants to talk shop, compare notes and swap advice around hot topics in the field.
Twenty of the one-hour education sessions will be available on-demand through the conference app while also delivered in person.
