Description:
As a native Memphian, I saw the need to put into action programs that were going to benefit the people that live in the South Memphis (Tennessee) community. The neighborhood has many flaws that hinder the people from prospering. It’s a community affected by crime and poverty with limited resources. It is also a food desert. As a young Black man who grew up in that same type of environment, I felt I could make a difference by implementing programs that the people needed and wanted. I created a community needs assessment to figure out what could be done to uplift the community in a positive way. I used the information from the assessment to implement various programs to meet community needs.
