Description:
Meaningful community engagement is the sum of many parts. It is possible, but it takes time. Sometimes it can be hard to see if individual actions are making a difference. We are here to tell you that they do! Follow the journey of one agency as they build connections with their Latine community and have fun along the way. Whether you are starting outreach with a new community group or are looking for ways to breathe life into your existing outreach, this session will offer ideas you can implement in your own organization.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will apply lessons from the stories in this presentation to identify different modes of community engagement and develop outreach strategies relevant to their own organization. This includes tactics that are inexpensive and not always mainstream.
2. Participants will gain strategies to thoughtfully implement programs and services desired by the community based on feedback received through outreach, identify where other community organizations or departments can help further their mission, and learn how to identify potential barriers and strategies to address them.
3. Participants will feel more confident in being patient and sticking with the process. This presentation will demonstrate tangible results from intentional outreach almost a decade in the making.
