Description:
Columbus Recreation and Parks is proud to present an interdepartmental collaboration in which urban youth are able to discover nature and all it entails. This session will cover the two divisions involved, Outdoor Recreation and Center Without Walls, and will go in-depth on how to make this programming possible. Through this partnership, inner-city youth are able to experience archery, canoeing, fishing, rock climbing and much more. These first-time adventures create lifelong memories and reveal a whole new world to our young participants. If you would like to learn how to impact nearly 250 kids through nature, please join us!
Learning Objectives:
1. Expand programming opportunities through partnerships and creative outlets.
2. Learn how to take programming to community members rather than waiting on community members to come to the park and recreation agency.
3. Implement new strategies to create opportunities for inner-city youth to gain new experiences in the outdoors.
